On July 7, 2012, Ringo Starr and his All Starr Band descended on Nashville’s famed Ryman Auditorium for a special concert that also marked the former Beatles drummer’s 72nd birthday. The supergroup’s hit-filled show was captured for a DVD titled Ringo at the Ryman that was scheduled to be released on March 19 2013.
The video features Ringo’s current All Starr Band lineup, which includes Todd Rundgren, ex-Santana/Journey singer/keyboardist Gregg Rolie, Toto guitarist Steve Lukather and Mr. Mister frontman Richard Page, playing tunes from all of their respective back catalogs. Among the many memorable songs included on the disc are versions of The Beatles’ “Yellow Submarine,” Starr’s own “Photograph,” Rundgren’s “I Saw the Light,” Santana’s “Black Magic Woman,” Toto’s “Hold the Line” and Mr. Mister’s “Broken Wings.”
In addition, the concert boasts a special appearance by Joe Walsh, who delivers a version of his classic solo song “Rocky Mountain Way.” The show finishes off with a performance of The Beatles’ “With a Little Help from My Friends” that features a bevy of special guests, including All Starr Band alumni Felix Cavaliere of The Rascals and Richard Marx, plus country stars Kix Brooks, Vince Gill, Brad Paisley and more.
